ABOUT US

The de Beer family arrived in Hout Bay in 1922 (Johaness de Wit de Beer). It was on this family farm (Bethel Farm which grew veggies and had a dairy), in 1994, that Kurt De Beer started supplying firewood to Hout Bay. The wood supplied then was all from Bethel Farm. In 2004, Bethel farm was sold to be developed and is now Avignon estate. Hout Bay firewood now operates from opposite Avignon estate (which was originally part of Bethel Farm). The wood we now supply comes from various suppliers. Portion is bought in but we do receive a lot from KDB Treefelling cc, which is our tree felling division and is therefore from the Urban forests in and around the Southern Suburbs.

With times changing and being the Cyber Revolution, Hout Bay firewood started its online store in 2018. The online store allows you to view all the woods types and quantities we offer. You book your preferred option and your delivery day and time all online. You can pay online, via Payfast or select the cash option. It is a user friendly system but if you have a problem please send us a mail(internet systems do have issues). If the online system “isn’t your thing” then please either send a whatsapp or mail. Please note that the free goodies offered with your order are only valid if you book your order online (unfortunately we no longer offer the rounds as we have no more in stock, you will still receive the kindling and blitz). If you mail/ whattsapp/ phone your order through, you unfortunately won’t receive them.

Most of our deliveries are done by Frankie. He has been our main delivery man for 3 years now. You will know him by his big smile 🙂 During Peak season, when deliveries are busy, we do get help from KDB Treefelling cc’s drivers. All are Hout Bay locals and have been employed for a few years at least.

Warm Regards

Kurt De Beer

Our wood isn’t fumigated and it’s natural that it might pick up a few passengers along the way. If you are concerned then it’s advised you store the wood on a concrete surface or similar.

Hout Bay Firewood can not be held responsible for any damage(to people or property) these bugs/beetles etc  might potentially do.
